Princeton Holiday Fund

The Princeton Holiday Fund

The Princeton Holiday Fund (formerly known as the Town Topics Christmas Fund).  This fund was originally created 60 years ago by the Stuart family and administered by Family & Children’s Services.  Donations were collected during the holiday season which supported low-income residents in financial crisis throughout the year.

Today, the fund is mainly supported by donations from individual donors.  The fund offers community-based emergency funding for an isolated, frequently minority, population of individuals and families who are at risk due to their financial instability.  Emergency funding is provided to Princeton residents whose life circumstances are affected by poverty and lack of access to resources.

Individuals in financial crisis may apply for emergency funds to assist with:

  • Utility bills (assistance for those facing shut off)
  • Rent/mortgage assistance (eviction/foreclosure prevention)
  • Prescriptions
  • Medical bills
  • Transportation passes
  • Food vouchers

The goal of this program is to prevent financial crisis for low-income individuals and families by providing immediate financial assistance.  Trained volunteers act quickly to provide crisis intervention for people facing immediate financial emergencies.  Direct assistance is provided, as well as information and referral to help residents navigate the social service system and connect them to needed resources.
